i know that the uefa site has us on top but rules seem to be different i.e. goal difference seems to be the top priority tie breaker...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011–12_UEFA_Champions_League#Group_stage

1. higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the teams in question;
2. superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teams in question;
3. higher number of goals scored in the group matches played among the teams in question;
4. higher number of goals scored away from home in the group matches played among the teams in question;
5. If, after applying criteria 1) to 4) to several teams, two teams still have an equal ranking, the criteria 1) to 4) will be reapplied to determine the ranking of these teams;
6. superior goal difference from all group matches played;
7. higher number of goals scored from all group matches played;
8. higher number of coefficient points accumulated by the club in question, as well as its association, over the previous five seasons.

we need to win our games against the minnows and beat Barca.. no way we will be able to surpass them on goal difference

That rule says H2H if you read it carefully. :)

I would assume the regular CL rules apply to group stage aswell so goals away count for more, yes?

Meaning a 0-0 or 1-1 draw vs Barca at home will win us the group provided we are on the same points that is.

I think you missunderstood the rules:

This is head to head.

MVB really shouldnt play. he is playing too much for a player his age. Aqua really should feature, and we also have Prince available. Dorf should be in the center with Aqua to the right and Noce to the left

To important game to rest him.

Just read that Seed is injured so I suppose he wont play at wednesday. I hope and think that Allegri will use the same team as against Palermo.

------------ Abbiati ------------
Abate - Silva - Nesta - Antonini
-- Aquilani - MVB - Nocerino --
----------- Robinho ------------
--------- Cass - Ibra -----------

As I see the only reasonable alternative is:

------------ Abbiati ------------
Abate - Silva - Nesta - Antonini
-- Aquilani - MVB - Nocerino --
----------- Boateng ------------
--------- Robinho - Ibra -------

Allegri likes Boateng so it will be intresting to see if he will bensch him.

eh Bate really shouldnt have a chance against us. Bommel has been poor and has been playing every game. Dorf had a minor knock, but I would htink he is probably fine for the CL, same for Ambro, both of whom could start in his spot

and I would give Silva the day off, let him fully heal up from today. Yepes/Mexes is fine to replace him

Totally agreed. That's the only necessary chance should be made. It's insane to start Van Bommel yet again. Seedorf can do his job just fine. Rest of midfield and attack can stay the same since it was great as it was.

I'd really luv to see Pato back for this one, don't want him to miss at least CL games.

I changed my mind: I think Cassano should start this match, and also all matches until Pato is fit. Pato back could leave Cassano on the bench so just start him as much as possible for now. Soon he will get some rest.

against Palermo last night, Allegri played him only 75 minutes for a reason

Should Binho play? I know he makes a HUGE difference, but he's just back from injury and played 65 mins yesterday, maybe keeping him on the bench and playing Prince or El Shaarawy would be worth doing, I think there's enough fire to beat BATE at home without Binho.... and there's some winnable games in Serie A coming up where Binho will be more needed...

I would play Aquilani instead of Boateng. Playing with Robinho at AM makes Boateng useless. Now Seedorf is surrounded by Boateng, Nocerino and Robinho. I think it's better to add a creative midfielder than someone like Boateng. Boateng should be used as Robinho's backup (as long as Robinho plays AM for us).

You now got our only creative midfielder as the one in front of the defense. I don't like that. We should have another one in central midfield (Aquilani). Seedorf replaces Van Bommel's role, not both Van Bommel's and Aquilani's at the same time please. Both Boateng and Nocerino is one too many, one needs to be Aquilani, and since Robinho is our AM, Boateng is not needed, and since not only Robinho but also Aquilani in midfield then, Nocerino defending is my choice.

Aquilani played very well for us, and thus he should and deserves to start against BATE too. He hasn't played a lot anyway, so it's not like he needs rest. It's good to start Seedorf as replacement for Van Bommel since the latter really should be rested. He played a lot, both games for Oranje the full 90 minutes for those who doesn't know.

Robinho needs match fitness, thus he should play. It went okay against Palermo so he can play BATE too. If he becomes tired in the 2nd half, you can sub him off for Boateng to replace his role in the team.

i thought he didn't need to be registered?

We signed him last Summer. So he hasn't been a Milan (youth) player for two or more years, thus he can't be registered on the B list.

which prove bate is indeed a strong team.
despite them of being an underdog in this group, i don't think milan should underestimate them.
i think boateng will start in allegri's choice.
he didn't play yesterday.
i would give ibra a break though.
he have played both in club and international level.
maybe in 2nd half.

I'd prefer if robinho gets rested for this game, and Ibra doesn't play for 90 min.

we'll have to see if ambro and seedorf will be back for this game.

Really?

I prefer if we get 3 points. Thats all i care about. Thus Robinho and Ibra are both playing. If we secure the game by all means take them off but they start on the pitch!

We had a great game last night vs Palermo but dont be fooled, we could easily slip into previous gameplay like vs juve and napoli. Esp if we find ourself conceeding early thats why i want strongest possible line up from the first whistle.

Play our strongest team to ensure we win this game.

If we qualify top we should get an easier team in the last 16. We need to win all the games in this group apart from the home game against Barca which if we draw 1-1 or 0-0we will go through 1st.
