I liked it too... Except Cafu.

Since you're not going to restrict on position and take simply defenders, he's not player with the size of the rest in the list.

Only won who has won every competition he's participated ... no?

RIP Totti
I would have liked to have seen it restricted to players he has played with or against

I think that would be more interesting, hearing reasons etc

he clearly wants to keep relations between himself, Barca, Real and us cordial.
So why didn't he pick a player that played with him in Brazil, played for Barcelona, played for Milan and was given a standing ovation at Real Madrid? :monto:

He has Brazilian legends covered in Pele and their Captain Cafu
He has a Barca legends covered in Messi (and Xavi and Cruyff )
He has THE Milan legend in Maldini
He has Real Madrid legends Zidane and Di Stefano
He has Argentina legend Maradonna
He has Germany legend Beckenbauer

Your have no point. He left out his close friend and Brazil/Real legend, Roberto Carlos, he left out Garrincha, he left out many many super players that he himself knows and loves....it's pretty clear that he tried to make a political list.....I think if he could have fit an Englishman there too he would have

Political list implies leaving out any of those choices would have caused an uproar, would anyone really have cared if he left out Di Stefano, Cruyff, Beckenbauer, or that goalkeeper?

I think he genuinely tried to put in the greatest players he knows. Apart from Cafu, Xavi and Iribar, the rest can all make cases for being in the absolute top tier of footballers.

Do you wanna use that same argument with Pele?

Do you honestly believe players post their genuine Best 11s?

Like Dru said. Political.
Aha , aha ......
So in a way am off by simply agreeing with what Ronaldo literally said while on the other hand you are spot on by speculating his intention ?!!!

Nah I feel you....Ronaldo was just so impressed with Di Stefano....who's career ended in 1966 ( 10 years before Ronaldo was born  )....than someone who he actually saw play like ....I dunno.....Baggio, MVB, Romario etc.

Guys like Beckenbauer, Cruyff and Pele played in the 60's and Ronaldo was born in 1976. Common sense should have told you that he picked players based on "who they are" or their reputation and not only on what he thinks of them.

If Messi was really as great as the ppl who seem to be superglued to his dick are, then why are Maradonna and Cruyff there instead of CR7 who is widely thought to be equal to him? Yet this simple basic line of reasoning is totally non-existent in the temple of the vertically challenged :proud:

The (rather odd) choice of goalkeeper aside....this is basically a "Who's who" list of players in the football/fifa world.

What's so hard in admit Messi is up there with the best players ever? It's obvious he is and the whole World knows.

Still a prick and I couldn't care less.

It's not hard at all. I've said that he is many times.

My personal take on him is that among the best players ever, I wouldn't place him on my own "god tier" of attackers :

R9/Maradonna or Pele

because, for the most part he has been placed in the eye of a perfect storm of fortunate events that the rest never had. I've discussed ad nauseum these so I won't go through them again but I sincerely believe that the rest had a much harder path to their legendary status.

I will happily revise my opinion if/when he:

1) Becomes the unstoppable force he is at Barca with Argentina
2) Performs to the same or a comparable level with another team..preferably in the Premiership.

Is Chelsea's Messi going to resemble Barcelona's Messi?
At present I am not convinced that Argentina's Messi is the same as the one we saw at Barcelona. And is it a coincidence that we are seeing his level decline (ever so slightly), almost parallel to that of Xavi's and Iniesta's? This is inconclusive given the hoard of new players at Barcelona as well as their upheavals of late.

I think Ronaldo revived it by mentioning messi in his list.

His haturz are now making up mossad conspiracies to decide whose payroll he is on.

Who is on Messi's all time :D

That will make things exponentially interesting for da thread

There's no conspiracy and I am not shocked/offended or upset in any way that he chose Messi. He's been a big and vocal Messi fan since day 1. If he likes Messi that's fine by me.

But the fact that the groupiez of Ant Man insist that he features in every Avengers movie would be hilarious if it wasn't a rather disturbing degree of dementia. With the suspicions of him trying to construct a politically correct list aside, great footballers aren't always the best judges or assessors of talent. Their opinions could be just as fucked up as those belonging to us fans because they are also fans themselves. Maldini crowned Sergio Ramos and Criscito as his successors. Pele has predicted that an infinite amount of fodders would go on to be legends, Maradonna leaving out Zanetti etc.

So Ronaldo's including what there can be no disputing of as a very "who's who" list isn't and shouldn't in any way be used as verification of Messi's greatness. But I guess that won't stop you guys :)

Conspiracy? :lol::lol::lol:

so you honestly think that he rates players who we don't even know if he even saw a youtube vid of over those that he saw/played with and was impressed by?

yeah I'm sure DiStefano inspired Ronaldo to want to become the player he is....you know, the way Messi was inspired by Ronaldo ;)

Maldini & Nesta played against him.

They gave their opinions on the hardest players they've had to mark.

BIG difference.

Yeah and when Nesta was asked who are the hardest forwards to play against he said Ronaldo... and then he mentioned...wait for it... wait for it....Jan Koller

http://www.worldsoccer.com/features/alessandro-nesta-55861

Now im sure nesta must have felt he had a torrid time getting skinned by Koller... but he wont be making in any of your top lists would he?

I read the article. You're talking shit. He said Ronaldo have him his worst experience.... THEN came Inzaghi and Batigol.......THEN Kolle, who was a physical beast at his peak in a good Dortmund team. He never suggested that Koller was the best at anything. This is low quality trolling......even by your ground zero level standards.
