“It is amusing and we often joke about it at the Milanello training ground. I’m not saying that I’m worth €20m or €30m like Ibrahimovic or Thiago Silva, but in fairness I don’t think I’m worth so little either...”

I think he was the only one who was actually joking

Antonio Nocerino reveals why he has not repeated the remarkable scoring record he had at Milan last season. “I was more determined.”

The midfielder was the team’s second top hitman behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic and even netted past Barcelona, but is yet to find the net in 2012-13.

“I really like scoring goals and last season was even able to get 10 of them because I was more determined in front of goal,” he told the Guerin Sportivo magazine.

Nocerino was the bargain of the campaign when signed on transfer deadline day from Palermo for just €500,000.

“It is amusing and we often joke about it at the Milanello training ground. I’m not saying that I’m worth €20m or €30m like Ibrahimovic or Thiago Silva, but in fairness I don’t think I’m worth so little either...”

Extended interview with Noce:

Antonio Nocerino was one of the most beautiful surprises of last season, AC Milan, although this year is struggling more as the whole team. The midfielder Naples issued a lengthy interview with Guerin Sportivo, in which he spoke of his career at AC Milan and his former comrades who left the Rossoneri.

On the jersey number 8 inherited from Gattuso: "I am a beautiful effect. That number has always attracted me, but it is clear that take today makes me doubly pleased. With Rino bind us many things, from a life that looks like: we're both Southern boys forced to come to the North to play football, both convinced that the road to success is paved with hard work. Rino is a great person and I do not say this because these will need to speak good of all. The player has a formidable character, but the man is just as strong, just as rich. E 'was he to explain publicly that he'd like to leave me your number. There was no need to ask. "

Its characteristics: "I'm especially determined. As I said before Gattuso, I have done and am doing my fatigue strength. The lesson I passed it Zeman at age 17, when he took all'Avellino. Repeated to me every day: "The effort to fight in one way: working." And I work a lot. "

Its tendency to score a lot: "Go in and score like that much. When I got as technical Delio Rossi and Allegri, who ask midfielders to sink, I managed to get it right. Ditto in Piacenza with Iachini: closed with six goals. The 10 goals last year? There was a leap, I'd given as a goal. I thought, "You have to be more specific, try the door wider." There is one thing I can not stand, in football and in life, and that is to be flat, without trying new and different things. "

On his idol: "I dreamed of being Shevchenko. He was my idol when I was already in Naples. Tell you something that I have not told anyone when I met him in June to Europeans, was crazy emotion. I swear I was moved. And in the end, look at the facts of life, I ended up in his own Milan. "

On his arrival at Milan for € 500 thousand, "I have to laugh, and we often joke with people even at Milanello: I have been taking for 3 thousand pounds and a soda. I do not mean to be worth 20 or 30 million as Ibrahimovic or Thiago Silva, for charity, but maybe not so little. Here I knew I had to climb the hierarchy, of having to demonstrate mature to play continuously in a great team. I had the Europeans in the viewfinder and I had to play. It helped the Rossoneri environment: there are wonderful people and there Allegri gave me confidence. "

On Ibrahimovic: "He is one of the few strikers in the world who is happy to score the other. It 'also great in this. I had a relationship with him spectacular. He could also ask, "Who is' I'm Nocerino? What do you want someone like me? ". Instead, it is a person of worth and I regret that the public image is different, very different from the private. "

On the many players who have gone: "I miss all of them, each for a different reason. Take Van Bommel, guy who did little known outside Milanello, but decisive on the inside. A reference that I'm missing. And so obviously Rino and Sandro (Nesta), with whom I shared space on the bus and at the table while we ate. "

The best moment to Milan: "It 's easy to score at Camp Nou. It 'was a magical year, the last, certainly the most beautiful of my football life. Milan, the 10 goals in the league, the National conserved Europeans. There was in everything. "

At the time instead ugliest in the Rossoneri: "Easy here: the last few weeks. Sorry to see your team in trouble. But I am convinced that there risolleveremo, starting to not listen to all the chatter that surrounds us. We just have to focus on us and not to listen outside, where the name of Milan weighs. "

Good player but his poor defending skills are more notorious since Ibra left. Still a good player if he could learn how to tackle.

Nocerino is not great but I cannot hate on him because after all he always gives 100% and I respect that above anything else.

Same here. I got pissed off at him when the team was going through a shit moment, and never really liked the hype around him last season, but after all he's an outstanding hard worker and his attitude is remarkable. I like him and respect him for that... and also from his interviews he seems like a great guy off the pitch as well.

He really is reminiscent of Rino... not in football terms because they're very different players, but in their backgrounds and general attitude. It's good to have him here.

Rino had his limitations and came from Salernitana, but with years of hard work he developed into a world class player. I'm not saying Noce will reach Rino's heights, but a player with his attitude is always welcome in my team.

The only problem really was the hype he got last season and people regarding him as a guaranteed starter... similar issue to Boateng.

He does give 100% no doubt.

Thoe i still dont remember him being THIS lousy in passing last year. Sure he was no.....err lets say ambrosini but right now he cant pull of even the ones gattuso had no problem with.

Usually milan is a disaster when it comes to fitness early in the season. Binho even said he is barely 40% ready and yeah i know, he was injured. But i wouldnt be surprised if even the players who werent injured and had a whole pre season arent 100% fit. Wouldnt happen the first time sadly.

i wonder why allegri/tassoti/coach team don't teach noce how to tackle.

just what he do in training? he simply the remake of gattuso. the tackle is what he lacked of. why allegri don't realize this?

nocerino isn't nearly as athletic as gattuso...this is something you cannot teach. he's too weak.

Athletic? Kind of. I would say Gattuso was bigger and a bulldog on the pitch since Nocerino last season was one of the players that ran the most.

gattuso's timing and quickness are underrated skills.

Think of him in his prime, and how many red cards did he have? And when did he EVER not get ball when he was in contact? Almost guaranteed in a 50/50...

People think that's not a skill, but it's actually very skillful.

sure, nocerino can run 10 times as much as the next player, but he still will not have the presence that gattuso had..and u cannot ask that of him or expect he could ever do that. could u ever imagine nocerino just fucking up someone's world with a violent, perfectly timed tackle? no..u can't cuz he isn't capable of doing that.

yes, of course. he isn't gattuso.
what i want to make a point here is, why Alegri doesn't coach him to be new gattuso? or gattuso-like type of player. Since he has everytool to be. energic. die hard and stamina.

well i guess i disagree...i don't think he has any of the tools to be a gattuso-like player.

allegri could coach nocerino to become a new gattuso...if anabolic steroids are a part of the coaching process

no offense, those are superficial tools.

By these tools, you'd be able to convert any fast forward to be gattuso.

1. tool, brain to read the game. Gattuso rarely let a counter byt because he positioned correctly.

2. timing. Can't teach aggressive timing. Otherwise flamini would do the job.

3. strength. We could get him on the juice. He'd be stronger, but would prolly get card.

4. Technique. Believe it or not, there is a tackling technique.

It's really hard to track in open field, time a tackle and not get carded consistently. Gattuso would pull off like 200 tackles a season with maybe a handful of yellows and no reds. Do you realize how accurate that is?

If we forced nocerino to sit deep and try to read like rino, he'd likely either be out of position or red carding away

-

I just think the idea you can make anyone who works hard a DM is kinda degrading. If that was so, every team would have a gattuso or makele caliber player, cause hard workers aren't hard to find.

Goes without saying, shaping Nocerino to be Gattuso (without counting Noce's lack of Gattuso -like tools), at age 27 is pretty darn hard.

Rino is Rino and Antontio is Antonio. Just because he has the number 8 doesn't mean that he has to be exactly like Gattuso. It'd be like saying because Xavi wears the number 6 shirt, he needs to be like Baresi. NO.
