I've worked out what it is that really pisses me off on night's like this. It's not people wanking themselves blind over Barcelona. It's people acting like they're the only ones on earth who understand the genius of Messi and Barcelona, and are therefore entitled to bask in their success in the face of the "haters".

Do you not have much success in your life?

 no terrible losers

I agree with this. It would be horrible if all teams played like Barca.

How could they? Barca are dependent on the best players in the world. Xavi, not Van Bommel. Inisesta, not Flamini. Alves, not Abate. Messi, not Robinho.

possession football = best defense. U cant lose the game if u cant lose the ball. Barca's attack is actually a great defensive tactic as well.

Very true. But I wouldn't dare suggest that Barcelona use possession for evil, defensive purposes. ;)

I know who this post was directed at, but i like to be an asshole.:D

Do you?

I don't, but I've come to terms with being a miserable, downtrodden Aberdonian and Scot. :D

It wasn't directed at any specific person, or I would have named/quoted them.

LOL at anyone here who says Messi is overratted ..

52 goals 25 assists so far this season .. most likely by the time season is over he will have 60 and 30. And he does it against anyone from any league .. Not just La Liga..

Last 2 years were 47,11 and 38,13. Incredible numbers.

3 straight WPOY/Ballon D Or coming up. (first time in history).

Will most likely win his 3rd Champions league this year.

Overrated :fp::fp::fp::fp::fp:

He's certainly the best club player ever. Miles above anyone I have seen since I started watching football. (In terms of pure talent I'd still rate Ronaldinho and Ronaldo higher).

And he's 24 - the age when most of u are still jizzing about players with potential.

Win a world cup and he's right up there with Maradona and Pele.

Hahaha..simple and objective. There is 1 or maybe 2 players on the planet that can do what he does. I was actually reading and taking your post seriously until I saw ibra and henry in your list there.

are you new to the sport? you surely must be. I'm not talking about today's ibra and henry

I laugh when I hear Barca play sideways. How can you go forward when there are 11 players behind the ball like in Real's case. Barca take what teams give them. If you don't give them anything they will play sideways until they find an opening..anything else would be stupid. Believe me if there is space Barca go forward. We saw what happens when Madrid open up..it turns into a 5-0 game.

The Wembley pitch is pretty horrible. I've worked at the stadium in the past so im pretty familiar with it and i've caught quite a few games there and it wasnt pretty so your right, Barca will actually have more of a difficult time trying to play their usual game.

Another factor is SAF, hes learned from his mistakes now and i think hes ready to take on Barca [tactically] and of course you guys have your special weapon in Chicha Hernandez, his pace will cause some problems for Barcas back two.

Shame we didn't play the final there in 09. It's pretty poor now, but it was shocking a few years ago.

I agree on your 2nd point, especially with Fergie learning from 09, though I'm not sure if Hernandez will play. I'd like to see something like this:

--------------Hernandez----------
Park-------------------------Valencia

-----Carrick---Rooney---Fletcher-----

Each player would be hugely important so any suspensions could kill our chances (as it did in 09). As ever with Barca the first goal would be key. If you look at the 09 final, for the first 10 minutes we battered them and should have scored atleast once, and on our day we could have scored 3 times, but once they scored from the their first attack they basically toyed with us for the rest of the game. They actually only had about 4 clear cut chances during th entire MATCH, but because we couldn't get the ball in their half of the pitch we didn't really have a chance to score.

Nobody's suggesting that going sideways is the wrong thing to do. It's just that some people seem to have trouble admitting that a lot of Barcelona's passes don't go forward.

There's no shame in a sideways pass. :)

Which is exactly the reason why Madrid play defense and counter, so that they have a chance against them. Then they get criticized for being anti-football...

Basically some people's view on football (and the number is increasing by the day :fp:) is based on football = Barcelona.

#1 We both know this isn't possible, but it goes both ways, right?

#2 Up until the red card it was an even game, just like the last 2 clasicos.

Interesting fact: Barcelona have only scored in the last 3 clasicos when Real go a man down.

Yet they are an attacking entertaining team that is god's gift to earth and the best team in history as well as Messi becoming the best player on earth since Maradona despite doing nothing with Argentina of note, as well as only scoring vs Madrid when they're a man down in the last 3 clasicos.

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
And if they win it again, that will be 3 times winning it where each team they faced in the semis have had terrible officiating decisions made against them. #1 Milan #2Chelsea #3Real?

Not saying Barca wouldn't have won without the referee, but there antics are disgraceful.

Totally agree, he is super

but i just don't think he would be able to do the things he does in La Liga against italian defenders in Serie A

Just one before I'm off..Marcelo spent his stamina over like 60 minutes and got punished for that..Afellay and Messi doing the honours. Ironically we hit Mashit the same old way they normally score..a winger squaring the ball with a speedy one-touch finish on the receiving end.

Lionel's finishing a lot like the old Villa..smart, quick thinking, accurate...

Wow.

Well I don't think anybody with a sense of reason, assumes that possession football is the only kind of football to play. Even Ancelotti's Milan, although being known for playing possession football, were very flexible and were able to play a more direct kind of football.

I think about Ancelotti's Milan as one of the most versatile teams I've ever seem. That team could play short passes and control the game by possession and moments later sit deep, conced the ball to the opposition and suddenly kill the game on a very fast counter.

There was the low-tempo game of Seedorf and Pirlo, and also a high octaned game from Kaká, Sheva, Cafú, Serginho. The team could break on speed by the flanks and using long balls and also build chances by gradual passing by the middle.

I really miss Cafu and Serginho on those wings

Not quite. Ibra doesn't compare to anything they have.
Not even the failure of Villa.

Also one thing no one mentioned, Pinto's red card. Without a reason Keita tried to pick a fight with Arbeloa at half time whistle, Arbeloa ignored, only to find Pinto slapping him and then pushed Valdano to the ground.

Yet Barcelona are the classy, heavenish, angel sent team led by the closest thing to jesus, Il Messiah.... :puke:

and some people are saying Real played dirty. :fp:

Lol, and Marcelo injured Pedro by stamping on him OFF THE BALL. It's a highly intense game, a lot of scores to settle from the last two meetings, these things happen.

The second goal by Messi reminded me of the Maradona goal vs Belgium in the 1986 World Cup Semi-Final, unstoppable. Oh and when the special cunt loses it's like Inter Merda losing, it makes my week :D

I hardly think 22 goals and 9 assists as a LW can be counted as a "failure"

They actually only had about 4 clear cut chances during th entire MATCH, but because we couldn't get the ball in their half of the pitch we didn't really have a chance to score.

Barca were also missing 2 key players that night so remains to be seen what their team in the final will look like but its probably grown stronger and more experienced. Barca's advantage could be that this time they could have a stronger back line and Dani Alves [who missed the final last time] along with a very deadly attack.

United will have to win the battle in midfield and for this you will need Fletcher and Carrick to be on their A game. Carrick for me has been pretty disappointing this season and Fletcher is injured at the moment right?

I like the idea of your line up with Rooney dropping back but i think SAF may have to deploy Scholes of Giggs in there and play Rooney where you have put Park. Another question for SAF would be, who does he start with, Anderson/Giggs/Scholes? to complete the 3 man mid with the aforementioned two.

Imo, Nani should start ahead of Valencia only because Valencia is a better impact player and he can come on and run at the LB [probably would be favorite against a right footed Adriano] There will be a lot of tactical battles to be won in this match, mainly the pressing bit and pressurizing each player on the ball. I saw United do this to good effect against Chelsea in the first half but in the second half they did it less but it was okay because Chelsea were pretty poor until Drogba came on.

If they do that all game long and man mark Messi then they have a chance, if not then its clearly going to be Barca's night in London.

I dont see how real madrid's lack of discipline makes a barca a lesser team than they are?..
You are also missing the clasico 3 games ago which real got ass raped. That was when real tried to do anything other than parking the bus.
