I was just wondering today... Why nobody have applied yet the principles of Feng Shui to tatical formations?

I think all this talk about balance, cohesiviness, compactness is just too occidental, industrial and rational for my taste. We are coming to the age of aquarium and so football needs more oriental knowledge and milenar philosophy in it.

Instead of draw formations looking for the best ways to defend or attack, that belligerent way to see the things, we should try to positionate players in a way that allow the energies to flow more freely in the field, in equilibrium with the cosmos, and also try to find the players that bring a more positive qi to the field. I feel like our team is somehow attracting too much negative energy lately.

BTW, lets just remember our last succesfull formation, Ancelotti's christmas three in 2007:

Milan_2007_kaka_inzaghi_maldini_seedorf_pirlo-223x300.jpg

It was a very succesful team because the piramid is a milenar and traditional symbol of harmony, and an excelent way to canalize energy to the TOP of it (who happens to be the goal - oh good ol' Carlo :proud:).

Just like this Feng Shui fontain in Taiwan:

300px-101.fountain.altonthompson.jpg

Also, look who is at the top of the piramid (just like the ball in the fountain in Taiwan), receiving the positivei qi: yep... Pippo Inzaghi - a player who happens to be our hero and is widely recognized as a shining player.
And look who is at the center (a place essential to keep the equilibrium of energies) - Pirlo. Not to mention a player like Kaká, who certainly attracted lots of positive energies to the field.

PS. Yeah, I'm bored at home and I have a lot of free time today.

i agree except for the statement in bold...that is just terrible english.:star::star::star::star::star::star::star::tongue::tongue::tongue:

I win , Prince has lack of vision and good passes; Gatto is doing fine and playing well, I know Prince defensibly is better but in matter of view & Passes I'm not sure!

OK I give up and I'm in!

I still officially hate Football Manager but it's too exiting a task of the future: how to field Pirlo with the less damage to the team which is working now?

My point is, he should be fielded on the expense of the third attacker a.k.a. attacking midfielder and the attack should be organised through the wings. Graphically, like that:

-----------------------Ibra-----------
----------Robinho---------------------
Prince--------------------------Flamini
-------Pirlo---------Gattuso-----------
-------------Ambrosini----------------

The opponents would eventually watch Pirlo who would eventually play back to Ambrosini; and Ambrosini give a long ball to the flank for the guys who can then center, or go for the corner, or fire after all :) and if Pirlo is free by then and they find him - even better!

All right, criticise now :)

I think you'd have to have Ambrosini and Gattuso instead of Prince and Pirlo, because those two would get overrun otherwise... Here's what I would do if you want to play that formation:

Abbiati
Abate-Nesta-Silva-Zambrotta
Gattuso-Ambrosini
Robinho-Ibra-Cassano
Pato

Even with Pato back with the squad and Cassano potentially signing, I wouldn't be surprised to see Allegri stick with his most recent tactics if we continue to perform as well as we have in our last two Serie A matches... Of course, having Pato and Cassano would allow us to rotate effectively and possibly discover an even better formation to unleash on Serie A and Europe.

Nothing beats having options as long as everyone can get along.

Yes. Milan could try out to play with three of Robinho, Ibrahimovic, Pato and Cassano, but all four will never work. I guess if Milan is going to sign Cassano, he should by tried out to play along Ibrahimovic and Robinho. Only then we will know if it makes us stronger or weaker. I would say it would be instead of Boateng. Now, Cassano is obviously the better player of the two, but playing him over Boateng won't necessary make the team better.
Ibrahimovic
Robinho, Cassano
Pirlo, Ambrosini, Gattuso*

Robinho, Ibrahimovic
Boateng
Pirlo, Ambrosini, Gattuso*

Maybe a bit to Attack minded but if Binho and Cassano back track I think it would cover nicely, adding a bit of speed to our wings is usefull and Gatusso will murder anything that comes through the middle, could also drop Pirlo back with Gatusso to defend if we are having issues

If Don Berlusconi goes mad and buys alot of players, this would be my formation:

------Ibrahimvoic-Pato------
------------Ganso-----------
--Lazzari-Ambrosini-Gattuso--
Coentrao-Sakho-T.Silva-Abate
------------Abbiati-----------

Robinho sub for Pato and Ibra.
Cassano and Lamela subs for Ganso.
Boateng sub for Lazzari.
Pirlo sub for Ambrosini.
Flamini sub for Gattuso.
Zambrotta and Antonini subs for Coentrao.
Nesta sub for Sakho and T.Silva.
Zambrotta and Bonera sub for Abate.
Amelia plays if Abbiati is injured or need a rest.

Lots of rotation.:)

I wish Flamini would step up and regain his Arsenal form. I read up the stats the other day and it states Gattuso and Ambrosini are the best ball winners in Serie A...Flamini doesnt win as much ball for a man who was once considered one of the best DMFs in Europe

In light of Nesta Injury, I'd try a new formation.

With the injury to Nesta and the apparent need to win more ball in midfield I think this formation would work quite well if our wingers were willing to do the hard yards and track back and defend.

Formation 3-4-1-2

-------------------------Abbiati-------------------------
---------Papa-----------T.Silva-----------Yepes---------
Abate---Boateng/Ambrosini----Flamini/pirlo----Emanuelson
----------------------Cassano/Robinho------------------
----------------Pato-----------------Ibrahimovic--------

Roma
Merkel
Strasser
Cassano/Robinho
Boateng/Ambrosini
Flamini/Pirlo
Antonini
Zambrotta

Now for this formation to work Abate and Emanuelson would need to work very hard both in defense and attack but I think there up to it, It seems our opponents have to much time and space in midfield, With this set up I feel we would have more control of the play in midfield than we do at the moment, Also we seem to be in all sorts when it comes to defensive headers maybe with the three big boys at the back we'd have more stability in the air. Maybe we could try something like this midweek vs Sampdoria in the coppa to give it a test run if you will. :)

Just my two cents, Thoughts?

FORZA MILANELLO OVUNQUE CON TE. :D

First of all, switch Abate and Urby ;)

Second: don't think Allegri will switch to a 3-man defence.

Third: we've had Nesta injured plenty of times, we never changed the formation, no need todo it this time.

Cheers, Yeah i know we haven't changed before i was just throwing another option out there and the fact our opponents are having to much of the ball is a concern IMO.
