Just a thought, why not try a 3.4.2.1 against a weaker opponent. With Abate and Janku/Urby as the wing backs it could really work out.

Whats so good about these 4-3-1-2 and 4-3-2-1 systems,

They are negative style formations that makes it next to impossible to control a game.

I detest those formations. They can be too easily countered.

I'm probably in a minority here, but 4-4-2 or even a 4-5-1 with the two wide men acting as wing forwards when we are in possession is a much better way to play the game.

Especially when we need a goal the 4-3 2-1 is a terrible one to use, all our players are in our own half. And the front men are too isolated.

I'd like to see the good ol 4-4-2 system back in operation. I know we don't have the players for it, but the summer is nearly here, so we can get some in because I'm sure that there will be some players leaving.

In theory it could be smart having a player who can cover LB and attack down the flank ( with a good crossing).

The positional sense + counter attacks might a big problem...

thats why IMO if you learn, say, Gareth Bale the basics of a CM, it could be surprising

No, it's a huge gamble to assume it will go well. We should buy someone who is comfortable with the LCM position already. Emanuelson is a good backup to have though which doesn't mean Bale will succeed as our LCM. I hope to see Urby also tried out as AM.

If it interests you, there is something I noticed in my national team (Croatia). We used to play with Corluka as a RB and Srna as a RM. Corluka at the time was a very skilfull and offensive fullback, and his colaboration with Srna on the right flank was brilliant at that time.

I do not see why Milan cannot do the same on our left side with players like Taiwo and Bale. Lets be real, Bale is a player that is sometimes simply unstoppable. Like it or not. People say he cant play in a romb, but I think he can. Hamsik is a different - safer - option.

Hamsik can also play on the right, as Prince tended to play LCM at times so...

In the end, this will end up as a mixed 4-4-2, with a team that posseses experience, speed in some players, raw power, strong fullbacks, players that can slow down the tempo ( Ganso, Hamsik, Ibra, Thiago ) + some subs that are class. ( Mexes, Zambrotta when he plays less, Yepes is very good, Gattuso, Ambrosini, Seedorf when plays less, Robinho...) Just do 2 more midfielders are we are scary team. Go Raiola

Over the course of these couple weeks the AC Milan hierarchy has made it clear that this summer’s main transfer target – after securing defensive reinforcements with Philippe Mexes and Taye Taiwo – is a left midfielder. Reports have it that Sporting Director, Ariedo Braida, has been working hard to sign that player. All we know so far is that the player is not currently in Italy, since it Braida has made it clear that he is looking abroad. A few days later, AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri also came out to offer some hints on the target’s identity and said: “Mister X is 1m83 (6’0 tall), holds an EU passport, has curly hair, and possesses good feet.” A couple of days later it was Adriano Galliani who stepped out and offered teased us more with another hint to the secret transfer’s identity by simply adding: “He also has blue eyes.”
