Bro I’m Skip Bayless, I always find things to not be happy about. So to answer your question, no I am not.
But it’s like what
@ROSSONERI7 says, Pioli prefers players with skill sets tocreate something out of nothing be it dribbling, long range shooting, or converting low % chances overall. He doesn’t see Adli as useful as what he offers on offense won’t really add much considering people are standing around and defensively ranks him the worst out of all of our midfielders (probably rightfully so).
With our current set up, and us being pretty desperate for points to maintain in a CL spot, Pioli is going to go with players that give him the most guarantees. I understand every single point Sam makes about why Adli would make us better, but it doesn’t fit with what Pioli has done in his selection so far as I mentioned earlier.
Like Sam, I think a player with the characteristics of Adli brings us to the next level.
The problem is Pioli being limited, his conception of football is limited in that narrow “dribbling” box…keeping us 1 dimensional and playing effective only on the counter.
Assist from Maignan last season, first goal v Napoli with Brahim’s assist…Rafa (and others) can make runs in behind and with his speed, he’d be twice as devastating if that was part of our game…and we have a player who can provide that. but even giving him a chance is a sin for Pioli…
The whole team would be feasting on that. Wingers and FBs. Theo would also probably have double digit goals.
I remember this in preseason
So our limiting factor is Pioli and only him.
He was given the tools to make this team a lot more efficient than it is.
He has failed to do so, and he is stuck on it. Like he was stuck hard on other things…like changing the mid because it was too thin, or even trying CDK elsewhere than the middle (he’s back at it)…
He’d stick to his not so great ideas, however obviously terrible they are, even to the untrained eye.
And that’s why I am for change.
I went from being an huge fan of his to this.
everybody fucks up…but the stubbornness in his fuckups blow me away. Like a lack of common sense.
I say he is a great executant of a football plan (following guidelines) not so much a great conceptor of a plan.
@Wild this an about 30% of the answer I was typing yesterday, when I decided to give up
