Silva is our future defensive general.

hmmmmmmm not really sure about this.

he strikes me more as like a field marshal...or maybe like an admiral.

dont really see where you get the 'general' comparisons from. :o

The key word in my post is "future"...

If he is this good in his first year and takes command by managing our defence that includes superstars like Favalli, Bonera, Antonini and Abate, imagine what kind of player he can develop into in a couple of years. Maybe a promotion from admiral to general? :D Our general right now is Nesta though.

Lol at all the silly overratted Italian love. Toulalan >>> and much more proven than Cigarini.

how can u say that.

Cigarini has started 10 games for napoli. Toulalan is vice captain and garenteed first 11 for UCL semi-finalist

which is btter?!

There are not a lot of great CB's our there, and those who are good aren't on the market. Selling him would be a mistake comparable to selling Pato. Silva is our future defensive general.

He has a long, long way to go before he gets anywhere near becoming a defensive "general".

A good place to start would be being able to lead a defence and perform well when everyone around you is terrible.

Partner him with Pique & u will have the best duo in the world.
Not for sale.
I would rather lose Pato than Silva to be honest.

Honestly this is imposible. Not even Paolo could make it work with players such as Sala, Laursen, RJ, Helveg around them. It takes two to tango.

If you want the CD partnership to work you need to have 2 quality players that understand the game and eachother...

How many games has Thiago been risking suspension if he got booked? I remember thinking that it wasn't possible he'd get through the remainder of the season without being suspended, yet he's almost there.

No Contact From Chelsea About Milan's Thiago Silva - Agent

25-year-old has been linked with move to Stamford Bridge in recent weeks...

The agent of Milan midfielder Thiago Silva has dismissed speculation linking Chelsea with the player.

Reports over the weekend linked the Blues with a move for the 25-year-old Brazilian, but his agent Paulo Fernando Tonietto has sought to play down such talk.

"Thiago Silva is very happy at Milan and he wants to honour his contract," Tonietto told calciomercato.it.

"Galliani says he is not for sale and he is the boss.

"I know nothing because if there was a team interested in Thiago they should contact AC Milan, I am just his agent.

"I can only say that Ancelotti knows him well, and not only him.

Tonietto added that he wasn't surprised there have been rumours surrounding the future of Silva.

He said: "I think that Thiago Silva is the best defender in the world and these stories are further evidence of his good work this season."

Another reason to respect him.
Its should b just a matter of time for a CB to get a yellow & for him to do what he is doing for us while having losers around him without getting that yellow is massive.
And some ******s have a theory that he aint as good unless he is with Nesta :o
Not taking anything away from Nesta but TS is a world class CD.

Talking about not getting yellow cards.. I think it was in the 2007 champions league that Nesta went through the whole Champions league season with just three fouls or something.. Maldini was also on a roll like that.. Like, wow!

Just before the start of the final, the broadcast was focusing on each player during warmup and showing stats on each of them.. And I remember Nesta as having a grand total of 3 fouls, and being pleasantly shocked.. I was looking around, but couldn't find those stats anywhere on the internet now.

I hope you're wrong, would be really bad to miss him in the last match. That match will be at home with Juve as opponent, Thiago can't miss that, he has to play in this match. We need him to not concede a goal there and to trash Juve with 5-0 or so and Thiago also should score :D
So I will pray for him to not get a yellow this Sunday in Genoa.

BAN!

He's been great, but he really is a much better center back on the left than on the right. Still, easily walks into many top teams' starting lineups. Great buy! Thanks Leo :star:

hopefully we get a positive result and secure 3rd spot then it shouldn't matter if he misses the juve game.

That wasn't the same season. But check it out.. He's gone through 48 and 39 game seasons without a single foul!!!!!!

And that too, in winning the champions league... That's even more impressive than Nesta's. See 2002/03. Tell you what. If ever there was God on a football pitch, it was Paolo Maldini..:)

If you watched Machester - Milan at OT, 06-07 Semis, before he got injured, Rooney was invisible ... yet Paolo barely made a tackle.

He had those impressive stats because defenders like him and Baresi were simply masters when it came to reading the game. I guess defending against the likes of Maradona, Platini, etc. makes you that good.
