He may go on to become a great player, but the fact that we failed to rectify our immediate problem - quality forwards - irks me.
What do you expect from a management that throws around big names like nobody's business and then settles for mediocrity in the end?

It's a great Signing and I welcome Pato to the Family! But i think that the problem isn't resolved yet, we have to play many games till january and we don't have credible striker. Ronaldo is not regular, he easily get injuries... if Berlu and Gali don't find a solution, we are gonna have the same pity first season like last year! I'm not ready for that!

How about a poll regarding whether we should get another striker or not? And what type of striker ... a proven one or a temporary backup till Pato can play ...

I was thinking... is there a player in the world who has costed 22M euro without being 18 years of age ?

Off the top of my head, Wallcott + Rooney, I think ... and Obi Mikel just turned 19 when Chelsea paid that chunk to United. Also, uefa.com mentioned a fee of around €15 million.

Wasn't Messi fielded as a 17 year old for Barcelona, at least once?
Eitherway the rule probably is that players under 17 that come from other place that is not the country of the league can't play till they are 18. Stupid (for 17 year-olds), TBH, specially for a guy that will be 18 just 2 days after the market closes.

Italian teams can't buy under-18 players from Brazil.

Welcome home?

That one also made me wonder..
I've noticed that alot of people already has Pato in their sig with sayings like: "Best player to come" "New messiah" etc etc. - That's abit early to say, even though you've never seen him play in europe...... :o

I agree with you but let them be happy abut the signing. As for welcome home nothing wrong with that either this should be his home for the years to come. I agree he needs to prove himself, some of us need to be sold first I am one of them but don't rip on the folks that are excited. I dont think anyone is claiming he will be the golden boy, just opening debate. To be honest I hope he is great I am excited to see his first match in red and black.

Don't get me wrong, I'm super excited about him! Ever since we were mentioned as potential buyers, I started following him with hope that we would get him - With that said, I won't get my hopes up that he will be the next Kaká/Ronaldo, YET. I'll wait to hail him as the next anyone, when I've seen him play :) I think I'm suffering from the "Oli"-syndrome, and that leaves me skeptic.
I do believe though, that he will be a great champion to come.

I hear you about the Oli-syndrome! Its tough and seeing us play in some preseason matches without any strikers hurts. I hope we pull something out soon.

On the pics from GloboEsporte it seems like he uses braces...or has awful teeth which is becoming a trend for Brazilian players. He edges me on kid face, at 17 I looked 14...at 17 almost 18 he looks 10.

I know; it seems like people are putting the cart before the horse. He shouldn't be heaped with all this premature praise until he's actually played for us. Again, look at Oli.

Walcott was bought for just 5m pounds when he was 17. His value over the next year may well rocket to over 20m, but i doubt hes there yet.

According to Wiki ( ), he's right.

Walcott ultimately signed for Arsenal on 20 January 2006 for an initial fee of £5m, rising to a possible £12m based on appearances for club and country, making him the most expensive 16-year-old in the history of British football.
