He will replace the injury Sneijder of Ajax

Seedorf back for Oranje Monday 13 November, 2006

Clarence Seedorf has been named in the Holland squad for the friendly with England after a two-year absence.

The Milan midfielder will replace Wesley Sneijder of Ajax, who picked up an injury on Sunday and will not be available for Coach Marco Van Basten.

Seedorf last appeared for the Oranje in Euro 2004 and had recently admitted that he still wanted to play for his national team.

Van Basten, formerly of Milan, had previously hinted at a return for the former Real Madrid ace, but it would appear as though he will merely be a squad player for his country.

“In the last two years I spoke three times with Clarence and explained to him why we didn’t invite him,” said Van Basten last week.

“Clarence had his chance under five Coaches and never convinced. We chose a new direction two years ago and found no reason to pick him.

“He must compete with Rafael Van Der Vaart and Sneijder. For the time being, those two have my preference.

“I will not say that Seedorf will never get a chance with me as Coach, but the fact is that I prefer other players for now.”

Holland will host England on Wednesday evening at the Amsterdam Arena in one of the most high-profile friendlies scheduled this week.

Well done champ!

About time MVB woke up to himself and admitted he was wrong.

About time Van Basten woke up. He just discovered Holland's and probably Europe's most talented number 10.
Congratulations Clarence, you really deserved it, now show him what he's been missing!

He was called only because Sneijder is injured . I wouldn't be so sure in the future, plus this is a friendly match.

He deserves it?
His last decent match was in about September, mate. And as far as I know, players are being called up for National Teams according to their club performances. LOL.

In Holland several media's say that seedorf will join ajax. but sneijder will go to Milan: Seedorf out <---> Sneijder in

Seedorf will returns to Ajax
Translation: Seedorf will return to ajax next season say VI Director Johan Derksen the 30 year old midfielder wants to end his career in Amsterdam. just like Rijkaard did.

Seedorf is now working on his image to Holland. for a example he sad he wants to return to the Dutch national team. not even a week after it he was called up by Marco Van Basten.

It is possible that Wesley Sneijder will join Milan if Seedorf leave Milan.

That ref was a pain in the ass he booked Seedorf for showing him he was wrong but the ref was too proud to admit he was wrong.I'm still not 100% wanting him out..Pirlo is still my least favourite player at Milan with Seedorf a close second.

Untouchable, only in the eyes of Ancelotti
I'm not all for him dissapearing right away as Pirlo now takes priority closely followed by Cafu and Oliveira.

Seedorf Shines In Zico Charity Match

Rio de Janeiro was both thrilled and stunned to see a Dutchman stealing the scene from native marvels, but Clarence Seedorf was the name of the game in yesterday’s charity match organised by Zico. The AC Milan man commanded his side to an 8-5 win where the real winners were the needy in Rio who’ll receive over seven tonnes of foodstuffs.

The match took place at the CFZ facilities in Rio de Janeiro, but Seedorf is a ‘Brazilophile’ and frequently spends part of his holidays in Brazil as well as speaking good Portuguese. When he found out about the game he bought a pair of football boots at a local mall and asked if he could join in. Zico and Júnior welcomed him onto their team.

The Red Team that Zico, Júnior and Seedorf were in used the following line-up: Zé Carlos; Leo Moura, Junior Baiano, Gonçalves and Leonardo; Junior, Emerson, Seedorf and Zico; Thiago Coimbra and Amoroso. Their subs were: Bebeto, Zinho, Fabinho, Élder Granja, Lenny, Roger and Jaime.

On the other side the White Team were formed by Acácio; Gabriel, Mauro Galvão, Fabiano Eller and Julio César; Ailton, Adílio, Djalminha; Roberto Dinamite, Vágner Love and Claudio Adão. Their subs were: Wellerson, Alex Dias, Macelinho Carioca, Alexandre Torres, Delacir, Andrade, Hugo and Vitor.

The Reds were blessed with braces; Amoroso, Zinho and Seedorf all getting second helpings of goal with Leonardo Moura and Bebeto rounding off the eight goals. After the game the Dutchman gave his boots to a disabled fan and spoke of his happiness.

“It’s an incredible honour to play alongside idols like Zico, Júnior and the others and at the same time. I’m just glad that I heard about the game and was able to come here and support such a worthy cause,” explained the Milan midfielder. Deco and Ronaldo were both unable to make the event for undisclosed reasons.

On the White Team the highlight was CSKA Moscow and seleção marksman Vágner Love (ex-Palmeiras) who bagged the only hat-trick of the match whereas veterans Alex Dias and Marcelinho Carioca scored a goal apiece.

Zico promised that with this year’s success the 2007 event will be even bigger. “It’s been really moving to see all the support and to know that we tripled the amount of food that we collected. I hope that next year we can use a bigger venue and expand the proceeds even more,” explained the Fenerbahçe Coach and Flamengo idol. (Goal.com)

Considering that the game was held in order to provide food for the needy, perhaps it's a good thing Ronnie didn't show up. :)

That's why I'm glad we have a player like Seedorf at the club. Such a top notch bloke.

It was a great gesture not only by Seedorf but for all who participated in the function whether it be playing, purchasing tickets or organising.

So he was vacationing in Sth America + got his hands on Gazzetta to learn about the possibility of disciplinary action against him for 'unsporting' post-match comments he made about Farina, + image-obsessed as he is, thought positive headlines are imperative + so he trotted on the nearest pitch + 'shone', making sure the 'good deed' gets ample publicity.

Why can't those people simply donate a fucking monthly paycheck, without making any fuss ? No, they pull the money out of the pockets of some poor Brazilians who pay from the little they have to watch this match. In the end, the poor have helped the poorer. It's sickening.

Sadly true ... this mentality is so common nowadays, even the IMF gets away with it. When a country shows economic progress + agrees to policies set by the IMF (and developed countries), they are ready to steeply slash their debts. Yet countries that struggle to pay their installments + refuse certain policies face expulsion from the IMF. A great help in development ...

Why didn't they at least hold the match in America?

Well, I was strictly referring to celebrities who never actually donate their own fucking money but 'grace' some charity event with their presence to make the attendees pay to see their botoxed mugs or sth. Not saying Slowmotion is botoxed up... :D

Didn't wanna get political. IMF is another story. IMF is Amerrrikkka. You be friend + the money will not cease to reach the foreign bank accounts of the corrupt powers that be, you be 'foe' + you better rely on your own devices which isn't such a bad thing, all things considered ;)

You better not :D Yeah, sick of all celebs driving their hybrid cars to these events ... the lengths they go to create a good image. Well, at least MOM Seedorf gets to surrounded by Latin girls this new years :D

OT: Is there a thread in OT where we can discuss politics + various conspiracy theories for our own benefit? Or is it bordering the forum rules ...
