Do people here actually think that Seedorf will still be a regular in the team 2 seasons from now ? I think a Rui Costa will happen to him and his starting place WILL be taken by Gourcuff. He will serve a good substitute though imo.

well... Milan did give Gilardino an extension when he was basically crap... so maybe this will boost Seedorf's performances...

From La Gazzetta - some contract expiration dates :

Brocchi, Gattuso, Jankulovski, Inzaghi --> 2009
Kaka', Pirlo , Kaladze, Seedorf , Oliveira, Gourcuff --> 2011

I wouldn't mind us extending Gattuso's and Janku's contracts. Brocchi has been good so far, but he's 30 (or almost 30) and didn't particularly set the pitch on fire in his last two games. Hope he picks up momentum.

^^ Maybe it's cause Dida takes a non-EU spot and we're looking at other options
That's irrelevant. Why are we busting our balls to get Ronaldo, then? And I guess we shouldn't have signed Oliveira on those grounds alone.

since Brazil isn't really well known for the goalkeepers they produce
What has that got to do with it?

@ BMW: Let me rephrase it. IF I were a coach + was given a restriction on the number of non-EU players, I certainly wouldn't have a non-EU keeper since there's a lot of GK-talent within the EU. Most of the best keepers (now and in the past) have been from Europe. I'd certainly opt for a Brazilian attacker rather than a Brazilian keeper, although Dida could be an exception :)
I just assumed the management are weighing their options for a change.

Go Bears!!! :D

This is a fuckin disgrace!!Seedorf would've been long shown the door if this was any other top club.If the Milan management continues to act this way I will no longer watch any Milan match.I absolutely refuse to take part in this farce.

Kaka and Gourcuff-find another club-you won't be winning anything over here the next couple of seasons.

don't worry too much... in due time... Seedorf will pull off a "Rui Costa" and ask the club to cancel his contract so he could return back to Ajax... just be hopeful that we can get Sneijder in exchange...

yea,.. but u should also know that milan could very well be trying to free up non-eu space,.. which has become so crucial in serie a as serie a clubs can only sign 1 non-eu player per season,.. unlike other leagues

Seedorf pulling a Rui Costa..... LOL.
You peeps make me laugh, get used to him, Seedorf is no bench warmer and we'll need him even more when we lose Kaka' which is inevitable.

Clarence Forever

Rossoneri fans across the world will be happy to know that Clarence Seedorf has prolonged his contract until the end of June 2011.

5192_news.jpg

The AC Milan headquarters in Via Turati had their eyes out for those players that stood out from the crowd in the summer of 2002 and they saw something special in new signings Clarence Seedorf, Jon Dahl Tomasson, Rivaldo, Dario Simic and Alessandro Nesta.

After a closely watched departure from intercity rivals Inter, Seedorf has become a fixture in the Rossoneri midfield. Since then he has been anything but run-of-the-mill in his five seasons with Milan, as he climbs over the 200 official game mark. Time has shown what a wise decision it was to sign the Dutch-Surinamese champion who in the 2003-04 season helped Milan to the Italian Cup, UEFA Super Cup, Italian league title and the Italian Super Cup. It was a good choice and one with which all Rossoneri fans can be satisfied and last night’s news that Seedorf prolonged his contract until the end of June 2011 is simply music to everyone's ears.

Seedorf extends AC Milan contract until 2011

Midfielder Clarence Seedorf has extended his contract with AC Milan, the Serie A side announced.

The 30-year-old Dutch international, whose previous contract was due to expire at the end of the season, signed a four-year extension that will keep him with the six-times European champions until June 2011, Milan said on their website.

Seedorf, who has also played for Ajax, Sampdoria, Real Madrid and Inter Milan, has been a regular starter for Milan since joining the club at the start of the 2002-03 season.

In that time he has won one Serie A title, an Italian Cup and the 2002-3 Champions League.

accordin' to this report... his contract would expire at the end of this season... not the earlier mentioned June 2009...

It's great the way Milan shows it's loyalty to it's players. It's what makes us a unique club.

Seedorf has been in fine form of late and this should give him the desire to continue his performances and lead by example, cos he knows, he himself, that he is going to be a role model to younger players coming up through the ranks and into the team from rival clubs.

Seedorf contract would be worse than Pippo's because Seedorf plays more often than Pippo. We enjoy signing contracts with players and leave them on the bench, so that's fine, as long as a not good player sits on the bench, we assume that he doesn't cause any trouble. However, a player who plays very often and doesn't do well... another story.
