I feel weird about opening a new thread just for this, but there's no thread in which this would really fit. I first read about this on Goal.com.

Vietnam footballer caught with ecstasy pills
A top Vietnamese footballer was caught Sunday with 10 ecstasy pills at a night club in the country’s capital Hanoi.

Midfielder Nguyen Xuan Thanh, 22, of V-League club Hanoi ACB FC was apprehended by security men at the club and was handed over to local police for investigation.

The police said three of the pills he had were methamphetamine, a synthetic drug causing euphoria and excitement, besides addiction. The seven others were of an unknown kind and were being tested.

The player had admitted to using ecstasy often and that the pills he had were gifts from friends, the police said.

Recreational drugs like ecstasy too are banned in Vietnam.

Thanh was released Monday on bail provided by his club.

That doesn't make him an idiot. Irresponsible, yes. Everyone makes mistakes in their lives. I don't think this one is that utterly stupid.

Professional footballers shouldn't be doing recrerational drugs. Recreational drugs are great if you are 14-17 years of age. After that....just grow the fuck up.

I don't think any drug that can cause brain damage, failing kidneys, hardening arteries, pain, and suffering should be made available.

I have no idea where else to put this and I don't think it deserves a new thread, so I'll just post it here. Maybe we can find an idiot somewhere in it anyway... :)

Amorous Brazilian booked for kissing referee

RIO DE JANEIRO, April 23 (Reuters) - A Brazilian defender was booked for kissing the referee during a match at the weekend.

Television pictures on Monday showed Cabofriense defender Cleberson giving referee Ubiraci Damasio a peck on the cheek after having a foul awarded against him during a 3-1 defeat by Botafogo at the Maracana.

The two were initially involved in a friendly exchange but the referee's mood quickly changed as he pulled out a yellow card and could be seen to say: 'You can't kiss me.'

'I didn't know it was against the rules,' said Cleberson afterwards.

Source.

Well, I got a kick out of it. :D

Two Brazil soccer fans caught with grenade - http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19035566/

Man, some people are just so screwed in the head. These guys belong in a padded room.

On a side note, further proof regarding the States' football deficiency: I heard this story about a minute ago on the radio, and the anchor pronounced "Cruzeiro" as "Cruz Nero" twice. He then said that the Danish fan succeeded (he actually did not) in punching out the ref on Saturday.

This may be many weeks late (cause I didn't want to jinx anything ;) ), but I thought Bentiz attempting to give A. advice on how to control C. Ronaldo, despite losing both fixtures to Sir Alex in the Premiership, was pretty high up there. Idiot.

They were apparently going to throw them at a bus of Palmeiras supporters. Oh well, if an Inter fan was going to throw grenades, he'd probably forget to pull the pin.

zZ: LOL, that's too cute. I don't think I've seen that before in any sport. :)

"do you have a girlfriend or a wife that we can promote for you..."

what a rude and sad thing to say... i cant believe the world is moving in this direction, and its funny that in the west they think we dont know how to treat our women

Are non-British people familiar with the infamous "Yellow Jersey" that UK clubs have? I feel we should have one of those on here.

Basically. It represents the club's own "Idiot of the Week" award and the player has to wear it in training. My local club, instead of a yellow jersey, has a fluorescent yellow full-body lycra suit :D

I wonder if Milan do such a thing? I suppose most weeks a normal yellow goalkeeper's jersey would do the trick
