I'm shocked you said Maicon is an arsehole, but no comment on Dani Alves other than irrelevant? Guy is the biggest douche out there.

He's a fucking monkey. n/r.

But you know he's a milanista, he plays hard, he does his job and continually improving, and HES NOT A WEAKNESS OF THE TEAM. What's not to like?

EXACTLY. The first point is where most of abate's hater missed.

He even convert to be a RB, when his coach ask him. Contrary to Flamini, not helping the coach (Leonardo at that time) converting as a CB on a very important match. HUGE different between a Milanista and a paid servant.

Where a stupid fcuk keep blaming a player based on one not-bad match performance and forgetting his glorious last season.

i think abate has been concentrating on his defensive abilities more in the last two years..now that his defensive abilities have improved i'd expect him to improve his offensive abilities as well...like someone said a few posts back, he was a winger...so he can't be all that bad offensively...it happens sometimes, when u put all ur effort on one aspect of ur game the other aspects tend to deteriorate...lets see what happens this season

But like someone said earlier or in another thread he gets no support on the right flank either so he has to make it happen all by himself. If he could cut in he would be better but as Senatore says - Who is better than Maicon with those wicked right foot shots (though his right foot is far more intelligent than Abate's)

He doesnt need to be WC, just to continue improving. Least of our problems.

Lol Abate I'd say is our second best defender after TS (well and Nesta, but only when he is very fit). His defensive abilities are great, really pressures attackers very well and you could very rarely see someone getting past him.

Most goals scored against us where from the left flank, because major part last year there was Antonini or Bonera playing there.

Abate will retire with Milan, he loves this club and his relationship with fans reminds me of Rino.

Great, great Milan player whose future is just ahead of him.

i was gonna say that dont need much to a FB play decently and talk about rafinha.. but i just saw the goal that he scored this week.. so forget about it.
when i saw the others with a proper FB, i get more and more frustated with what we have. Is a shame.

Leo saw something on him.. something that prandelli and ancelotti dont see.. me either, if he is WC and the future of NT and Milan like u guys said.

I dont see a solid defender on him.. i see a insecure player struggle with all his power to keep a average level. I dont hate him. Is a guy working really hard. But i wanna see this team playing again on the right side.

I like Abate and RB is not a position Milan need to address but some overrate him. The fact that some post say he already world class says it all really. I mean everyone is entitled to there opinion but that pushing it IMO. He is a solid consistent player at best that only rated by Milan fans if I am honest.

agreed, rafinha is just an FM player for the haters, its only by luck that he plays for one of the biggest clubs in the world and is preforming really well.

I don't hate the guy either, tbh I feel sorry for him, I just  at n00bs who say hes WC or WC potential, or that his crossing is all our forwards problems, even tho oddo who played 20% of the games abate played last season, managed 3 assists and even antonini managed 2 assists.

half the fans are happy with him, shows the standards we have to live by

Abate works his ass off for the team.. I miss the old days when we had the express train Cafu on the right flank but Abate's contribution for us is with an efficieny higher than 60%...He's been progressively improving so far and is still in process so I have faith in him..

Abate is ok.He's definitely not a world beater but I don't think that is a problem. As far as I can remember we win our last 2 CL with the likes of Simic and Oddo(he maybe a better crosser but Abate is better defense wise so it's a tie) which are competent RB at best.Don't get me wrong,it's good to have a WC RB but looking at Milan's recent history, WC RB is not really our key point of success in Europe compared to say having a WC AM/Trequertista which is what we are lacking right now.

rafinha is playing for BAYERN. Dont need to say anything else.

3-4-3 of genoa :p

played as RM for most of the season, for an average team like genoa who changed the coach twice during the season.

him moving to genoa was a mistake, but schalke couldn't turn down 8million and he had problems with magath.

Our defense is fine. TS and Abate I don't need to explain. I wonder how long Sandro can keep the level from Barca up. I hope he can keep it for a long long time, cause when he's gone, we're going to feel it.... I'm not sure about Taiwo either yet. He has time to prove hisself though.

again, this is not Football Manager or Fifa11 you stupid fuck.

seriously, can you state here, how much assist that Pastore done throughout last season?? but then, why many club still rate him highly, and with high transfer fee???

This is REAL FOOTBALL you stupid fool.

Dont mess up between football and statistics. You will end up with bullshit point of view.

there are very few great full backs in the world at present...be happy with what we have.

and i don't know what the definition of world class is, but abate is definitely good enough to play in the CL for us,against any team, he has shown that time and again, and he's just 24...still has time to mature, and he is better than any fullback we've had in ages

Who knows Rafinha as a rightback when playing for Schalke 04 knows he's a proper rightback and expected it to be a good signing for Bayern. Of course he wasn't as impressive when playing for Genoa who don't use fullbacks. If Rafinha was a Milan player he was likely to outpreform Abate. Ideally Abate would be our second choice rightback if we really wanna be something in Europe.

:head:

jankulovski of 2 to 3 years back was better than abate.

tbh even zambrotta of 2 years back was better than abate.

abate has potential but he is just OK at the moment.

Also, i am still pissed off with how easily he let messi get to the ball and cross it in. :head:

He may be the key for next upcoming match

Ignazio Abate vs Napoli 28/10/10

hint: watch his interceptions

yes was very good game for him.

He is perfect serie A fullback but at the moment lacks skillset to be an international full back, meaning would struggle in different leagues that have different philosphy on how the position is interpreted(mainly attacking aspect)

while he may not be an exceptional player , he is pretty good and has some good qualities which i can live with(great defending and exceptional pace). He is way down on the list of problems and it seems unnecessary to buy a new right back . This is taking into account that milan very carefully spends money in the transfer market. Every fucking penny should go into changing our whole midfield. We need long term replacements for clarence/ambro/mvb. i think we may have to spend 30-40 mil on getting a couple of good mids . Buying a right back seems like a waste of cash

Man it is fucking Messi, RM's really very fit defence gets raped by Messi every game they face him, but Abate - young stud, in a first game of CL and our only second serious and important match, I'd say managed to pull very decent game at most attacking football team maybe ever.

Barca don't make like counter attacks from times to time, they literally tried to terrorise 70 minutes of the game. As I read Barca forum non of them even mentioned anything negative about Abate.

If you see he tried to cover the ball with his body because he thought that it was enough. Silly mistake; however, I expect Abate to improve because of that play. Abate is not world class; however, his rate of improvement between playing a team twice is exponential. For example, last year in the first game against Inter Etoo pass him like he was nothing many times; however, Abate completely nullified Etoo in the second game.

Fanb0yz may remain blind, but I've honestly not seen a worst crossing fullback in over a decade of watching Milan. That is the bloody end-product expected from him.

Oddo used to deliver pinpoint crosses without getting into the positions Abate gets into. That is far more valuable than getting so deep in, but neatly passing to an opposing defender then.
