then why wasnt this a problem with 2006 italy team? Serie A was much stronger then. They had same number of foreigners in 2006 as 2010. I think it has nothing to do with foreigner rule. Italy has a problem giving youth a chance period. Look at a kid like luca cigarini. Every coach praises him as being special midfielder w/ NT future. He can't get time in any italian club now he's in spain in sevilla and starting...looked good his last two games too. I'm not saying he will be next pirlo or anything but you can't tell me he's not good enough to play at mid table clubs in italy he was at...
La Liga has similar number of foreign players and they are producing a lot of spanish players... best ones in years too. Germany has MORE foreigners than serie A and la liga and look at strength or german team
Italy is one of the best football's nation and most of these players started to play football in the 90's. It's not cause Brazil produces more than them that Brazil's gonna win every single WC.
And like I said before, the football in Brazil goes beyond the sport. In Italy, you won't be a miserable fucked up person if you don't play football but in Brazil, lots of people have their life saved because of this sport.
You don't have an idea about how many kids come from the north and north-east to try to play for Flamengo, São Paulo, Corinthians, Vasco, Palmeiras...
Just to give an example, Hernanes is from São Paulo basis but he didn't born in São Paulo (the city). He's from Recife.
Now look at Roma. They have Menez and Vucinic on their attack. Two mediocre players. That would "never happen" in Brazil and if it happened, would be just bad.
If this happened in Brazil, the youngster from the basis who lost the chance for a Menez and a Vucinic would need to move to a smaller club. In this smaller club, they would take the chance of other 2 youngsters that would probably have the same path and so on.
One more thing. Other than Italy or any european league, brazilian clubs are way more balanced in terms of titles and finances. Now imagine this happening on São Paulo, Santos, Corinthians, Palmeiras, Flamengo, Vasco, Fluminense and Grêmio.
A huge amount of fucked up poor kids would keep being slaves in their fucked up north or north-eastern states just to give place to players like Menez and Vucinic.
And Spain still sucks at producing talent. Without Barça, they're nothing.
