When you think that we will play 38 Serie A games, at least 8 in CL, few more in the Coppa, and we will have tough chores in Club's World cup and matches against Sevilla and Boca for Supercup trophies... - that's lot of matches !!!
And without at least four new players (defender, 2 midfielders and attacker) we cannot have high hopes. We need to get squad depth, prefferebly with quality younger players.
Inter are way ahead of us in Italy - they may not have a team that makes you lose your breath but they can win most of league matches with their agressive and strength based style. It's not big news that their squad on paper is much stronger then ours (this didn't give us any headaches in past times,though...)
Juve are back, they are completing a good team, and can fly high considering their only obligation will be Serie A.
Roma are always in the top four, great team that can spring a surprise, but they really don't have the money to bring some extra players they need to make it to the top.
Fiorentina is IMO a team that must be carefully watched next season - combination of hard work and great talent. It's really not easy to overcome the -15 penalty and get the place in Uefa Cup.
Other teams like Lazio, Palermo, maybe one dark horse (Napoli ?) can battle for European competitions, but nothing more...
So Serie A campaign is gonna be very, very tough one. But managment always says that Milan's primary objective is to win CL. How realistic is that? NOBODY has won this competition twice in a row since it stands by that name. And I can't obviously see this Milan (without some heavy squad strengthening) to achieve that historic success.
We shouldn't let ourselves be misled by a terrific European campaign last season and forget about serious problems that need to be solved if we want to see Grande Milan celebrating another trophy in Piazza Duomo 2008.
