On the paper Inter look much stronger. Our team has got nice chemistry and experience but without a change in our squad Inter still have the edge over us.

We may be able to win it though because we are AC Milan, but I'll wait and see how the transfer market goes; even though I'm not optimistic. Inter are closer.

true Inter have a strong team, but don`t forget that we have expirience...true that alone ain`t enough but combined with a few good reinforcments we will be the ones with a true chance...but again as some of you said we will have to wait and see how thw transsfers go till the start of the season.... :D

I believe he was asking about Platini's vision of CL future. This hasn't gone through yet and the news are dead about it after the elections..
Yeap I was thinking about that....
I know that there was a talk from 2008-2009 only 3 Italian teams will participate in the CL....

Jasper said:
Another point was that FIGC wanted to give the fourth Italian CL spot to Coppa Italia winners. The proposed time was 2008-2009 but I don't remember if it was the season it starts or the season in which Coppa winners enter CL.

Hmmm they tried this thing few years ago so they raise the interest in the Copa Italia.
But then the 4th placed team played aginst the Copa Italia winners in a play off for a CL spot....

Without some transfers, its going to be tough. Inter has a lot of depth, and Milan really doesn't. If Gila actually has a good season like he did at Parma, then we have a chance. But he needs to pot at a least 18-20 goals this season.

Not the exact version of the derby but how about NAPOLI - PALERMO ??

Now that PLATINI has to satisfy his vote bank in the far EAST, a lot of clubs from smaller European countries will be participating in CL at the cost of the slots such as ITALY, ENGLAND and SPAIN.

So, given that I think we will have only 3 places in CL from now on, i.e. from 2008-09 CL.

with no reinforcments Milan will not claim to be candidate for scudeto this year. You need to have 25 top players squad to play in high level all season.Inter is favourite in the paper. B-win published top candites for scudeto
in channel 4:

The first odds on the 2007-08 Scudetto race are available – and the bookmakers predict Inter will face a stiff test to retain their title.

Internet betting site bwin.com has Inter as favourites to retain the title at 5/4, but city rivals Milan are close behind at 3/2.

Juventus’ activity in the transfer market seems to have impressed the bookies, who have the Bianconeri at 4/1 ahead of Roma at 6/1.

Interestingly, Torino find themselves as rank outsiders at 250/1.

The list in full:

Inter 5/4
Milan 3/2
Juventus 4/1
Roma 6/1
Fiorentina 25/1
Lazio 50/1
Sampdoria 100/1
Palermo 100/1
Napoli 150/1
Genoa 200/1
Torino 250/1

All others 200/1

I guess, you mean to say that everybody "IN ITALY" hates NAPOLI.

BTW, I hated MARADONA all through my life and that is why I hate NAPOLI myself. I still can't forget the MILAN - NAPOLI game of (3-2, we won) 1990-91 return leg at home. In a way, that match decided the outcome of the Scudetto in our favor. Even MALDINI says that is the one of the most memorable SERIE A matches he has played in his life.

BTW, that NAPOLI team was loaded with stars such as CARECA, MARADONA and young ZOLA.

Of course I meant in Italy. Didn't even think this needs to be pointed out. About Napoli there was a trio with a very good nick. Like we had Gre-No-Li they're nick actually meant something. What was it? I'm not into googleing ATM.

Never thought my post can be misunderstood like this. I meant the Napoli trio's nickname that made somekind of a word with the first syllables of the names.

I don't know if this was posted or not so here I go.....

Milan’s season ticket boom Thursday 28 June, 2007

With a mouth-watering campaign in prospect, Rossoneri fever has swept Milan and season ticket sales have rocketed.
The Diavoli have reported 21,344 early ticket sales – an increase of over 13,000 from this time last year.
The bumper ticket sales may be a result of winning the Champions League and the excitement generated by the club’s search for a high-profile striker.
If the Via Turati outfit are able to lure one of Samuel Eto’o, Andriy Shevchenko or Didier Drogba to the San Siro they can expect to sail past last season’s final total of 37,300 season tickets sold.
Serie A attendances have been in decline in recent years, but Milan still boasted an average gate of 47,000 last term – second only to Inter – in spite of the Calciopoli gloom.
It is estimated that Milan’s advanced sales will generate almost £5m for the club.

21.344 season tickets sold for less then a month and 2 months till the season kicks off is highly impressive...

When you think that we will play 38 Serie A games, at least 8 in CL, few more in the Coppa, and we will have tough chores in Club's World cup and matches against Sevilla and Boca for Supercup trophies... - that's lot of matches !!!

And without at least four new players (defender, 2 midfielders and attacker) we cannot have high hopes. We need to get squad depth, prefferebly with quality younger players.
Inter are way ahead of us in Italy - they may not have a team that makes you lose your breath but they can win most of league matches with their agressive and strength based style. It's not big news that their squad on paper is much stronger then ours (this didn't give us any headaches in past times,though...)
Juve are back, they are completing a good team, and can fly high considering their only obligation will be Serie A.
Roma are always in the top four, great team that can spring a surprise, but they really don't have the money to bring some extra players they need to make it to the top.
Fiorentina is IMO a team that must be carefully watched next season - combination of hard work and great talent. It's really not easy to overcome the -15 penalty and get the place in Uefa Cup.
Other teams like Lazio, Palermo, maybe one dark horse (Napoli ?) can battle for European competitions, but nothing more...

So Serie A campaign is gonna be very, very tough one. But managment always says that Milan's primary objective is to win CL. How realistic is that? NOBODY has won this competition twice in a row since it stands by that name. And I can't obviously see this Milan (without some heavy squad strengthening) to achieve that historic success.
We shouldn't let ourselves be misled by a terrific European campaign last season and forget about serious problems that need to be solved if we want to see Grande Milan celebrating another trophy in Piazza Duomo 2008.

Yea thanks to our ever-exciting transfer campaign... LOL... Seems people started to buy into the prospect of a miracle superstar signing. Until 3 weeks ago sales were seriously lagging.

Actually, I have another game in my video collection, when we beat the high profile NAPOLI with MAGICA playing by 5-0. I believe that will be some time in 93, one of the MARADONA's waning down years.

I have to take a look at my collection once again !!

Regarding this year's SERIE A, it is good to see that we have some competition but the FIGC have to be clever too. We have such a great prospect of a good league but we need to market this product of highly competitive league in the world market properly to increase our revenue.

If we can do that we can also support the smaller clubs with more money.

Look what EPL is doing lately !! They are just getting better and better with their revenue. Even though, it is another thing tranlate that kinda financial perfomance on the soccer/football pitch. A certain club called AC MILAN is always standing as a thorne on their path to EUROPEAN glory for their teams.

Please ask Manure and Liverfool management team !!

FIGC must deploy MILAN's past few years' glorious performance to promote the ultimate quality of the league. Right now chips are on our side and should immediately use it to our advantage.

In the last issue of the ragazine ''Calcio Italia,'' they devoted six pages to our CL triumph and nearly 20 to Inter (still riding the coattails of their Scudetto win).

Then again, it's normal to continuously celebrate something that only happens once in a lifetime.

We won 5-0 in a home game vs Napoli in 91-92 season and at that time Diego was no longer with Napoli. I guess he left the country because of some drugt-related charges in mid season. In 93 Diego was playing half season with Sevilla.

I vaguely remember in that game Van Basten scored one of the most powerful heading I've ever seen (the other heading would be Kohler's goal vs USA in WC 06 and Gullit's goal vs USSR in Euro 88). MvBasten jumped so high, his head was cocking backward then boom! His wet hair (it was raining) splashing violently and the ball was headed towards the ground, hit the back of the net then come back to the field again because of the power.

milan can win the scudetoo this season... first there are no injury problems a week before the start of serie A, and the team is even more confident and sure after winning the CL, now, there are no "points" problems, and in the bench there's not a "plan B" team, is more a "second plan A" there, the group is just awesome.

Ad of course, the diavolo wants to win everything!

Injuries will come during season, we don't have competitive players in bench for whole season. For sure it's not going to be nightmare injuries like last year but still Milan isn't strong enough, If Inter start to win matches one by one like last year its gone be hard to win serie a, we will see what will happen it depends a lot how we start season.

Hi, I have a question. Is it true that the matches of AC Milan against Juve, Roma en Inter are on Saturday at 20.30, and not on Sunday at 15.00?

Because I'm from Holland and I want to go to Milan - Roma on 28 october, but 28 october is a Sunday. Is it true that they will play the match on Saturday evening then?

Before last year the bigger encounters used to be on the evenings. Then after Raciti murder the evening games were banned. Before this season they announced that they are back but if it's considered a high risk game they will not allow it on the evening. Confusing right? My bet is that they'll be on the evening:)

Thanks for your answer, but is there a better way to check it? Because I need to know it for sure, because if I book a flight on Sunday to go home, and the match isn't Saturday evening...I'm screwed. And because I have tests at school on Monday, I need to book a flight on Sunday.

Do you think it would help if I would mail acmilan.com and ask them?
