Ashish's biggest nightmare would be Italy winning the world cup in Brazil with Pirlo as captain

Ashish, don't worry, a 35-year-old Pirlo will not play the WC 2014 as Italy's captain, he's no Van Bommel after all. :)

Also me
We had three men midfield with Pirlo & a bodyguard occupying two slots meant we wont be able to have active flanks.
It used to work when we had full backs like Cafu & Sergi who allowed us to widen our play.
As soon as we had shit full backs we became so central , slow & narrow.
Pirlo was denying us from having a balanced team with him not able to carry his own defensive role.

Not entirely true. We could have easily used 4411 with kaka and...pato I guess?

Or gotten wing backs or done any variety of things to instil width

Obviously he thrives with width. Fyi so do scholes and xavi. Xavis influence has gone down the more narrow barca have gotten. Where as his best was wih 433 and messi henry wide and fb overlaps. This ain't a criticism on pirlo its a strngth. Fw cms have ability to hit 25 yarder wide consistently and spread play, widen defenses, open up play

It was easier to chang him rather than changing the entire squad just for him.
His vision doesnt deserve all that IMO.
If you have a team already having what Pirlo need then ok , he will do his job but its not even worth to build a team arround him.
There is a lot of players who can give what Pirlo give + more so if you wanna build a team you shouldnt go to get less.
Thats what Juve got & he did them great but there is no regret & it was a good deal that we let him go same as when we sold Kaka & Sheva but the problem as you know is not upgrading.

Again , Xavi worst will never reached Pirlo's level simply coz Xavi is more pationate.
You build your team on people already ripping not to a midget who has given you 5 years of meh simply coz you think he might do well if .......
Xavi this season wasnt aas before but he was doing great & among the best midfielders in the world.
Thats Xavi low , among and when he excel he is singing a solo.
And the entire Barca team arent the same so its not like they were performing like last season while Xavi performed less.

I'm just enjoying all the people who talked for years about what a shit player and how overrated Pirlo is are now changing their tune to that he us a traitor etc for leaving us and helping Juve

Was a WC player with us, is still a WC player
The joy is the theory that just emerged that he was .............. wasted.
If he was doing great then the word wasted wouldnt even be considered.
Wasted = he wasnt doing good coz ......
But he wasnt doing good , period.
So people saying he is world class & wow were the one who were deluded not his critics.
Him doing great with Juve doesnt erase all the mediocrity he gave us & that he would be still giving have we kept him.
And lets see him next season & specially outside the mediocrity of serieA.
I just hope Juve doesnt upgrade coz am sure they will get humiliated with that team.

Well clearly his vision and control of a game is not underrated because he just won a scudetto and had an undefeated season where he led league in assists.

He's done this type of stuff for a decade.

But like I said, lets go to 2008. When we had a poor season and wanted to rebuild. Had we added Etoo and 1 of maggio/vargas (who we were linked to for same price as Ronaldinho and Zambrotta) + flamini we'd have had team that would have worked better for pirlo, kaka and all our players.

That's where my issue lies with management.

Xavi at hisworse never played with a static or narrow team like Pirlo.

regardless of whether xavi is better or not, he simple hasn't played in this team and you know it.

What would xavi do with seedorf infront of him and ambrosini/gattuso beside him and no width or proper forward sans kaka?

Notion seconded. And Andrea Poli.

It cannot be a coincidence that Poli's is just missing an 'R' from his name.

Ricky Alvarez please.

I like him too, but we'd probably need to skip 4-3-1-2. He hasn't looked too good in it. A winger in 4-4-2 and SS in a Christmas tree however.

Not that I wouldnt mind a change of formation.

Oh shut up. Nesta isn't the type to say something to please others. He's a straightforward guy, and he voiced his opinion. I doubt any one of us can claim to have better football knowledge than he, so shut up and stop being a smart ass. Game over :D
Inter players?

He may be right! Bring in Sneijder!
Missing the point Asian loverboy? He didn't say Inter ... not for a second was he implying Inter players. No ... what he was talking about is these two players' quality. Two players who incidentally, some pseudo-knowledgeable bigots think aren't even world class

And he's absolutely right you know. We need real quality in the middle of the park. Not vb0ss, no. Pirlo. As is the opinion of a champion such as Nesta.

Its alright to admit you're wrong. Everyone makes mistakes.

What about a 4-4-1-1 ? Think Sneijder can play CM with Ibra up front and Cassano behind him?

I think that will be a solid mid field.

Sneijder is quality. He is also dutche. He also throws hissy fits. He is also inconsistent.

I am surprised everyone doesnt have a hard-on for him yet.

Exact opposite, no? I thought Alvarez looked far better in the center than in the wings. They were trying to push him to the wings so that Sneijder may have his space in the center. That coincided with their worst period. Resident Inter fans, correct me if I'm wrong.

If we sign someone like him, we'll have a good-fit top 4 for a 4-2-3-1 actually.

Of course, my favourite for that role now is Toni Kroos. He was just perfect in the matches against Madrid.

Pirlo: “Allegri wanted to play van Bommel or Ambrosini in front of the defence. I’d have to change role. I said ‘No thanks’ + joined #Juve

As simple as that.

What follows is some high praise for Conte.

Pirlo on Conte: "From a tactical and instructive point of view he’s even better than Ancelotti and Lippi." Woah #Juve

Pirlo on Conte: “He’s a great coach. I’ve had many, but no one as meticulous in their work and as good at explaining things as him." #Juve

Pirlo: "Almost all of my former teammates at Milan sent me text messages congratulating me on winning the Scudetto."

Pirlo: "During the season, many of my former teammates have said that they could feel my absence, but I'm happy. I won."

Pirlo: "During a long season injury problems can occur, but I believe that they should change something in the preparations at Milanello."

Pirlo: "Milan decided that I was no longer useful to them. I understood that immediately during our meeting." -->
