Look at how many people turned on Thiaw immediately after a couple of poor performances, though. Like, in 2023 he was being hailed as the next Kaiser in Germany, but he returns from a 3 month injury and commits a penalty and this board is asking for him to be sold.

I’ll go down insisting that there is something to slowly introducing young players. Padre threw CDK to the wolves and he was torn to shreds.

It also shows how very much different it is for a young player to establish himself at a club like Milan compared to Atalanta, where the fanbase is much more forgiving and a culture of introducing and supporting young players through their growing pains is well established. Not here. It's winning trophies or gtfo. 3 points against Lazio aren't enough if the performance was as poor. And good luck to you if you settle for qualifying for CL only.

Of course some youngsters thrive under pressure or find it way easier to adapt to a new country, a new language and a new life far away from their friends and family. Reijnders for example started off here like orchestrating the midfield of Milan in front of the San Siro crowd was a walk in the park. CDK on the other hand crumbled after his first few missteps and went missing for the rest of the season.
