Tried but failed to. Seems like an identical copy to me :D

For what? Please clarify ...

So you discuss football with the Uefa A qualified coach, huh? Next time you discuss, ask him whether players can have different performances for their clubs vs countries. And if he indeed is qualified, then I'm sure he'll inform you of a long list of players who fall exactly in this boat.

I don't get what you were all about with the "twilight of his career" and Zidane comparisons. That wasn't at all what I was referring to. What I said, and quite clearly might I add, is that IF player A or B has an impressive world cup, don't take it for granted that he'll shine for his club in the forthcoming season. Or, if player A or B was outstanding for his club this season, it doesn't automatically mean that he will shine at the world cup.
Broke it down for you enough? Now go on and discuss ...

Wow ... Pedro! You too? :proud: :D

When It comes to football I dont need any explaination from you. Thank you!

and your argument about worldcup performance.....is worthless because most great players are measured by their performances for club and country. They go hand and hand....This is the measure for those who are truely able to assume the title great.
I stand with my point! Pirlo did little to nothing for Milan, I personally Iam waiting to see his performance, with the presumed best team Italy has to offer...........I dont know if you have actually played this game but when your a quality player.......Or in Pirlo's case worldclass it doesnt matter who you play with your ability will shine................So Iam anxious to see, if his ability will do the same in this upcoming worldcup..............Just like how many on the board are waiting to see Hunterlaars performance..........Iam waiting for Andrea's.

Pirlo: 5 – Outstanding in the first two minutes, but then very disappointing in the next 88. The game passed him by as he strolled around.

Pirlo 5.5 rating, a bit 'less inspired than usual, sees the game with one second later than usual. (milannews)

Only thing I disagree here is the usual part. Does the guy who wrote this intend to say he is usually inspired.

I'm sure Pirlo lovers will again say Peerlo didn't have a good team to play with :D

DDR is not good enough to support Pirlo . Gilardino , Pazzini and co can't run and get Pirlo's long passes. Italy need speedy strikers. Wing back not good enough to make runs for Peerlo. So let's bring another set of Italians or give Italian passports to latin americans, spaniards etc and play them so that Maestro can shine. :D

Sell him soon as after world cup whole world even Carlo might actually notice he is useless.

Bonucci: 5 – Was at fault for Mexico's goal as he tried to push up to play onside. Caught out of position too many times, but did score Italy's consolation.

De Rossi: 5 - Not for the first time he failed to reproduce his club form for his country. His mistake led to Barrera's one-on-one, and was outplayed in midfield by Juarez and Torrado.

both players many of you rate highly and would dream to get them ...but they are average right?????

cause i mean when you hate so much that you start qouting from sites you call goal.shit.....sad......you know we are talking about a milan player

stfu Pirlo Haterz

Pirlo was clearly the best player on the field..... the forwards clearly didn't understand where he wanted them positioned that's why he wasn't able to orchestrate

The wingbacks were bloody awful and who's this DDR guy :conf: What shite!! Pirlo needs a better X (note not XI he can stay the rest gotta go :o ).

Also those silly mexicans were running so fast!! :head: Don't they know they crossed the border a loooooong time ago n/r? Then need to run and pass slower for Il Maestr:star: to intercept their passes and not tackle their attackers :proud:

For the first time in years, Mexico has a dynamic team, something which is lacking with the current Milan. It's useless to have talent if you're not willing to move or at least try.

It has to be said Italy had been training hard for 15 days, while Mexico had their fifth or sixth friendly game already. Still, I think Lippi made a terrible decision in not including Totti or Cassano, there's no one to link the midfield and attack.

This thread makes for some enjoyable reading, as I've never seen such divided opinions on a Milan player in my lifetime. In fairness, you either have people who constantly praise him and his hair, and others who mindlessly attack him at every opportunity. There's rarely a sensible medium. You almost get the feeling that the people who are in favour of Pirlo leaving the club would prefer if he had a bad game, simply to express their dislike. Midfielders in general are very inconsistent and seemingly always the scapegoats, you're either a fan or you jump on the 'ah, they're overrated' bandwagon.

Serious question now: Assuming that we sign, let's say, Hamsik and Dzeko next season and Pato manages to stay fit for at least 30 games; Flamini hits top form, Hamsik provides an extra dimension to the midfield and makes us more unpredictable, Pirlo starts getting the assists and goals but his overall game deteriorates. Would any of you prefer that? What I'm getting at is that stats aren't the only measure of a player's quality. David Bentley and Dirk Kuyt were statistically better than Kaka a few seasons ago, does that mean that Ricky is an inferior player? When statistics become a person's sole argument, it's quite clear that they possess a strong dislike (hate, if you will) towards the player and there's not much you can do. What the Pirlo fans see in him, the 'haters' obviously don't and there's not much to it - we all have different views on football. Some fans cream themselves every time Barcelona pass the ball, whereas others, like myself, aren't fans of Xavi and Iniesta's tedious sideways passing sessions. Give me Holland's quick, direct, counter-attacking football any day.

"Yeah, well, but Xavi has a gazillion assists this season" - Don't mean to repeat myself but that is an awful argument. Barcelona - a team who almost always have 70-80% possession every match - should really expect one of their playmakers to get an incredible amount of assists, especially with Messi and the likes in the team. Watching the little Catalan in a Milan shirt would be quite amusing, especially when the likes of Catania will simply laugh at his attempts at trying to squeeze the ball in between 9 defenders. As for the argument over how we topped the table two years ago without Pirlo, that's fair and we might've played differently if Gourcuff wasn't sold and employed in his position last season, but then of course, surely some of you have a problem with Pirlo's 'role' in the team, rather than the player himself? Let me remind you how shit we were the numerous times that Pirlo was absent from the team last season.

For the record, I'm really not here to troll the thread with my views on Andrea, hell, he isn't even my favourite player. That righteously belongs to sir Sheva.

Stopped reading there.....if you could call ppl who attack Pirlo for his NON-CONTRIBUTION yet persistent praise "mindless" while acknowledging that he gets praise for his HAIR- which apparently is intellectually sound- then it's clear which side you're supporting...other inane arguments you present such as this:

Yeah I read the whole post (not that it was worth it). But really it's the Pirlo fans that try to shove the stats in your face. Not only that but the statistics grow more and more irrelevant such as "but did you know that Pirlo is the best at (insert stat)??"

..now go run along and let the ppl who watch the game bitch and moan in peace :o

Great post Bear (also great name, i have a variety of bear pics if you decide to add an avatar).

but then of course, surely some of you have a problem with Pirlo's 'role' in the team, rather than the player himself? Let me remind you how shit we were the numerous times that Pirlo was absent from the team last season.

No one is willing to say it, but it's basically leo's fault we were dependent. The 4-2-'fantasia' basically left milan dependent on 2 players to get ball to attacking 3rd (aka ronaldinho). And when pirlo wasn't there it didn't happen.

Those games it was flamini/ambro the game was disjointed and couldn't hold possession cause only other players capable (seedorf and ronnie) were too damn high on the pitch.

This also led to milan's embarrassment vs. man utd and inter because ding ding ding, ball has to go to pirlo to get to attacking 3rd. And when ur basically looking at 1 man to do it, it's incredibly easy to stop. Say all you want about other players, i don't care who u plug in pirlo's role next to ambrosini or flamini orgattuso in that tactic, a competitant team will find it incredibly easy to stop, unless u have seedorf and ronnie dropping deep which they rarely did

Forgive me but I haven't managed to read through the entire thread, but posts like "overrated fairy" or something along those lines is mindless bashing to me. As for the second bit, well, the thread proves the contrary. Read through and you'll see the numerous times Xavi or anyone else's assists for that matter are brought up.

Ah, so by having a different opinion, I'm not one of those who "watches the game". Makes sense.

I agree, but it also comes down to the off-the-ball work of the players. Compare how much Eto'o and Pandev track back with Pato and Ronaldinho and it becomes almost laughable. Last season, we were good with the ball but once the opponent got it, it seemed like nobody knew what to do.

Agreed.
But how much of that was down to coaching? not gonna blow Mourinho, because wet ones makes sure he stays sexually satisfied daily, but you know he wouldn't stand for the lack of work down by ron/pato. Heck carlo benched both players at time cause he wasn't happy with there effort more than anything.

Inter played a 4-2-1-3 my ass.... mourinho had them in a 4-5-1 where those 3 had freedom to attack but basically only milito didn't have defensive duties.

Milan regularly had 4 players not defending. Then again, ultimately i don't think leo wanted 4 lazy players uptop, but maybe he played cards he was dealt

Quite a good post. Would like to add, though I think M84 covered this already that that period of time past season when we did really good when Pirlo was injured, was also a period of time where Seedorf was playing at a very good level (alone not Seedorf + Pirlo, which doesn't work anymore) + Gattuso was our best player at that moment (which IMO was more of a factor than the lack of Pirlo to our good performances).

Eitherway, we do have a big problem for several years already which is relying too much on Pirlo to our game, truth is the minute it was discovered that Pirlo was the one dictating the game, it was easier for teams to realize that putting someone marking Pirlo would've cut our flow, add to that the fact that the team has gotten slower and the lack of off the ball movement, well that just doesn't help Pirlo much (yeah yeah yeah one dimensional blablabla, lamentably any player in Pirlo's place in this Milan atm would be going through exactly the same + players do tend to perform better in certain conditions). So I do agree in the need to find a box to box midfielder + get our fullbacks to have more movement (IMO this year they actually improved a lot in that sense, even if I consider both Antonini and Abate "modest" players, their runs helped the team in games against smaller rivals which were usually the ones we had more trouble with in the past few years).

Pirlo WAS a good player. He never was one of the world's best, EVER. He has GREAT technique and ball control, I'll give him that; and his passing is good, as well as his shooting. But, he is very slow, lazy, weak, bad in the air, and bad defensively.

Back in the days when we had the most technical midfield in Europe, with Pirlo, Seedorf, Kaka, and Rui Costa on the bench, Pirlo looked like a treat for the eye offensively. When surrounded with good ball players, he had the luxury to easily spread the passes right and left, and go for the occasional long killer ball. Also, even when he had a bad game -offensive wise- or had been marked, it didn't have THAT big of effect on our game, since we still had Seedorf to do the playmaking, as well as Kaka's and Sheva's individual brilliance.

Yet this still had its negative side. Pirlo has always been a defensive liability, and sometimes handling the defensive burden was too much of a task for Gattuso. Hence, why the introduction of an extra man in midfield, Ambrosini, was vital in our Champions League triumph in 2007. At the time when we had one of the best squads in the world, the great central defenders Maldini, Nesta, Stam; flying wingbacks like Cafu and Serginho; and an attack of Shevchenko and Pippo and Crespo at their prime, we still underachieved. A HUGE reason for that is Pirlo's defensive weakness, the 4-0 scandal against Deportivo and the Istanbul final come to mind. When we had the ball, Pirlo looked brilliant, a real maestro, the 'orchestrator' of the midfield. But when we lost it, our midfield was a disaster waiting to happen. For any reason if Gattuso collapsed defensively, which was mostly never really his fault since he can't handle all the defensive duties in midfield alone, especially if we're under pressure, the results turned rather embarrassing.

In conclusion, Pirlo's best days are WAY behind him. And these days were only possible when he was surrounded with great technical players as well, and relieved of any defensive duties, which in turn hurt us badly. Even at his best, he was more of liability than an asset. But now Pirlo has become more like a cancer to our team. Not only did we lose the great technical midfield, the attacking wingbacks, and the tireless Gattuso, Pirlo himself lost the physical qualities that he didn't even have in abundance to being with. He became slower, lazier, and EVEN more weak defensively. Which, combined with the fact that he's our only playmaker in midfield, and the fact that he got figured out by all teams anyway and is easily marked out of ANY game, the solution becomes simple really: we need to replace him.

But, he is very slow....;became slower
You guys make out as if cm is a position for speed demons...pirlo is no less slower than fabregas or xavi or whoever...cm's aren't there for speed, well not in pirlo's case.....

But, he is lazy.....; lazier
the fact that you call him lazy(unless you can define lazy as something else) is ******ed as he always runs his ass off game after game...anyway running doesnt always equal effectiveness.....i can easily name 5 players who dont run as much....+ the fact that we have no box-box mid he has to improvise and move further upfield with it and infact if those who dont run made smarter runs pirlo's contribution would be way more signifacant

Pirlo has always been a defensive liability

his job was never to be a out -out dm he was a deep lying PLAYMAKER.....simple concept...pirlo was never a dm to start off with so the fact that you guys are saying that he is weak defensively is dumb ...i mean why play with strikers then ....he helped out where he could but that was not his main role...

bad in the air
....bad in the air....??? oh yes pirlo was always a dominant force there....

....it all come downs to implementation of roles ....
any player in Pirlo's place in this Milan atm would be going through exactly the same
and replacing pirlo wont solve the deeper issue....

Me too n/h.

In addition to what Crazy said; about the reason why we were competitive two seasons ago in Pirlo's absence, only to fall short later on the season ... yes, Gattuso was a beast that first half of the season. I believe he even had more assists than Dinho  And, aside from the one game against MERDA, it was actually Gattuso who played Pirlo's role ...

Anyway, as soon as Pirlo returned, the tragedy of Gattuso injure hit, and he's never been the same since. That, if anything, was more telling as to why Milan didn't finish the season as well as we where by mid-season ... more so than any ridiculous theories that Pirlo's the reason to blame for it. Had it not been for Pirlo, we probably would've been worse off.

Wuhuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu , I cant wait to write a wall of text giving the idea that am neutral when am a Pirlo fan club.

The problem of this thread isnt haters coz most players in Milan are as average as Pirlo & you dont see haters bombing their thread claiming Ambro is shit , Ambro is average.
You know why ?
Coz there is no idiots claiming that Ambro is world class.
The problem is with over hyping Pirlo more than the haters who existed only as a reaction for ppl sucking his dick for playing good in one world cup with Italy & Italy is the key word here.
