He's old. He's fat. He's slow. But he's Clarence Seedorf !!!

Still a great player, proved that there he still can be an important player of the team.

I'd still rather have Gourcuff instead of him in the starting 11.

^^ Ehh....I'm not sure if I would.

He seemed a little nervous tonight from what I've heard from neutrals, even though we were two goals up.

Experience counts A LOT in these kinda games. Spain in the WC and Roma in Manchester would be good examples of how inexperienced and young players can crumble under pressure. We can't afford that at this stage.

Anyways, just as I was yelling at Seedorf to move faster, he scored. Before I could get my voice back to say another word, he set up another goal. Good job tonight and keep it up!

Forza Seedorf!

Good point. Gourcuff has little Europe experience and we can't go throwing him to the lions, so to speak, this deep in the Champions League, barring a blowout that allows garbage time.

I'm a huge Seedorf fan and I think he has finally got his old swagger back which is a good thing for us. Let's hope he continues to play in this fashion for at least three more games so we can hoist some silverware this season.

Yesterday proved how much we need Seedorf in his preferred position, he had a good game and vibe, and when Gourcuff came on, didn't he seem nervous and at a loss of energy?, I have a feeling we need to send Gourcuff on loan at the end of this season

No way. Recently, I've began to think Gourcuff isn't a Clarence-type player. He plays much better in midfield and maybe could be the player who'll give Pirlo some much needed competition. It's becoming more clear that Clarence is a much better performer when playing more upfront + should be Kaka's sub when we play the 4-3-1-2 or play alongside Kaka' in the 4-3-2-1.

And I don't think Gourcuff was nervous when he came on. He did the most sensible thing ... get the ball, keep possession + run down the clock near Bayern's corner flags. I'm pretty sure those where A.'s orders + a right decision because Clarence got tired in the second half.

So keep them both :D Maybe bring in one more midfielder with pace like Sneijder or Rosicky to give us more options. But like I've always said, our midfield's still one of the best (if not the best) outfits out there. You can add the Van Bommer, Hargreves + Ottl combo to the list of victims :devilfir:

Bravo Clarence ... but more importantly, keep it up :star:

I put the great performance down to the position that was played, anybody noticed he took Kaka's role when we scored both of the goals?
We needed somebody to step up yesterday, and he did it. :)

^^ Yeah, they took turns playing the support striker role. Which is good since most people try to single out Kaka' for some tight marking.

I wonder how the San Siro will react when he plays there next ...

That was a screamer that Clarence scored yesterday. I was surprised how much velocity was behind that shot. Kahn didn't really have a chance anyway because it also came through traffic. :)

Jasper: Got 2mb of Dida by any chance? :D

Well... he does keep it up, for 5 or 6 matches per season. So I guess you brace yourself for a quick return to normalcy... You know... Slowmotion + the works.

Everybody is getting optimistic and having fun and Passion comes to the rescue!!!

You can at least hope that Seedorf will be motivated by his play against bayern and show some consistency.

Hope till the cows come home, I couldn't care less.

I've seen enough of Seedorf over the years to KNOW that consistency is none of his concerns, let alone priorities.

He can play when called upon, I hope there is no argument there. As far as I remember, he was great in the UCL over the past seasons, especially in the later stages. His trademark long range shots have made him a constant threat to opposing teams.

I agree he is having a bad season, and his level of play is lower than expected. Just that I hope that with all his experience he will help us win the UCL and the 4th place in Serie A. That's all.

Let's say he's picking his games, or so it seems, + that's annoying for s.o., me in this case, who really appreciates commitment, a positive work attitude, a willingness to perform. People who take paychecks + privileges for granted are so not my kind, hence the problem I have with Seedorf.

Passion's got a point here. Nobody denies Seedorf has talent, he does and in abundance. I just hope he was more commited.

Btw Passion, judging from the individual 'traits' you've listed above(work rate, commitment etc), i would expect you would've been a little more fond of Gattuso

I used to be more fond of him.. until he refused that dope test.. He's still OK in my books, it's just that I would prefer a more versatile midfielder altogether. Pirlo's so fragile + depending on 'protection' + Gattuso is a bit limited technically as well as tactically + in MY ideal Milan we'd have players who aren't exclusively destructive... or exclusively creative.. we'd have box-to-box types who know how to pass as well as to tackle. I'm such a dreamer

I agree with you, but sometimes somethings must be overlooked for the bigger picture. I begin to see why you have a problem with the older "stars" of Milan. You see they do take big pay checks, but they are essential for Milan. You see, I know that Fabregas (example) would have done a lot better this season than Seedorf, but you know, Fabregas isn't Seedorf. Why? Why the bigger paycheck? Why the "star" status? Why the privileges? Not for what he did for the club in the past. For what he can do, and is capable of. Maldini is old too, and slow. And not as good as he was. And not the Maldini we know and love(d). However, if he can be that Maldini for a few games a season, well having one of the best defenders in the history of football in the team is good. And liked it or not, though Seedorf isn't among the best midfielders in history, is a world class midfielder, and many teams would love to have him.

De Rossi is a good player, and I think he will fit Milan fine. However, he is also the future of Roma, so they wouldn't let him cheap.
